Named after the 13th century ruins, this is as fine a links course, as you will find anywhere. Par 73 ~ 6,772 Yards. Course review: I played both the Old Course and Glashedy in September 2001 and it was one of the most satisfying golf experiences I've had--and not because of my good play. Both courses are stunningly beautiful and full of challenge. At times it's difficult to concentrate due to the beautiful scenery. The wind is constant--bring your low ball some warm clothes! The courses are very different and one could spend many days here alternating courses and never get bored. Both courses are great links tests of golf and I cannot wait to return. The clubhouse is friendly and has good food, and after 18 holes of battling the wind, you'll be ready for a few pints.” Par 73, 6772 Yards.

My advice to anyone playing this great course is to keep it very straight off the tee - stray from the fairways at your peril! The golf course is set within an estate of rich woodland around a huge natural lake and offers extensive views of the beautifully restored Dromoland Castle. Over the latter holes, expansive landscape views of the River Shannon complement the challenge offered by the golf course, while the River Rine also gently meanders its way through the estate.
